Could mammals have evolved without reptiles?

    Could mammals have evolved without reptiles? Explain why.

    It is incredibly unlikely, given the extent towhich mammals share important features of reptiles (such as vertebraeand front-facing eyes) that mammals could have evolved without reptiles.
