    Use FOIL and simply, First times First, Outside times Outside, Inside times Inside, Last times Last. (3 x +5) (4 x-1) 3 x*4 x=12 x²3 x*-1=-3 x 5*4 x=20 x 5*-1=-512 x² — 3 x +20 x — 5Now simplify by adding -3 x to 20 x and get: 12 x²+17 x — 5
