Find two consecutive intergers whos sum is 39
Let x=the first numberbecause the two integers are consecutive, the second number is one higher than the first. So since the first number is x, the second number is x +1 x + x +1=39 combine like terms to get 2 x +1=39 subtract one from both sides to get 2 x=38 divide both sides by two to getx=19 because the second number is x +1 and x=19, the second number is 20. So the first number is 19, and the second consecutive integer is 20. To check, just make sure the two integers are consecutive, and then add them and see if they equal 39
