I think your asking how fossils help prove that the continents were once all together but they all seperated. Well, a very long time ago, all the continents were all conjoined together in a super continent called Pangea. Fossils help prove the continents were once together because archeologist have found fossils of plants and animals in a different continent, but they originally came from a different continent. This proves that the continents were once together, because they were together, everything was everywhere! But when the continents broke apart, it took some of those plants and animals with it. Lets say, a special plant is only found on Africa but a fossil of the same special plant is found on a totally different continent. Because fossils take a very long time to be fossilized, this proves that the continents were once connected but then broke apart. Thats how fossils prove that the continents broke apart! Hope this helped
