How does the lighting in perfect (GCSE dance) contribute to the mood/ atmosphere?

Having a real dark lighting makes it seem eerie or sad/gloomy. A brighter lighting can make the photo seem more happy and inviting. If you have ever looked at a horror movie picture that shows the name and depicts part of the movie normally they seem scary even though it may just be a boy standing there. In normal bright lighting he would be perfectly okay and no one would think anything of it, but with a dark back lighting to it or taking away the color in the picture it makes it seem more creepy and less inviting.
