What did the British government do to cover the high expenses related to the french and Indian war
They taxed the colonist with what they call "acts". For example one of the acts was the "sugar act" which in this case Britain forced the colonist to only buy tea from Britain, not only were the colonists forced to buy British tea but they lowered the price from 6 pence to 3 pence but ensuring that the money will be collected for reasons like stealing or bribery etc.
